Chess is one of the oldest games in the world, born 2,000 years ago in India and now played by more than 1 billion players around the globe. Recently chess encountered a huge gain in popularity thanks to the Netflix series « The Queen's Gambit » and streamers on Twitch and Youtube playing it more and more.
Seeing the hyper growth of Play-to-Earn platforms like Sorare and Axie Infinity mixing games and NFTs made us think, why not bring that to chess?
We are building an online chess game platform, available on mobile and desktop, with a layer of NFT on top of it.
One of our first constraints was to keep the rules of chess as pure as they have been for the last 2,000 years and known by millions of players. We do not want to change a single bit of them. Same rules, new ways to play.
Doing so, on the one hand the massive player base who play chess will be able to play Immortal Game ; on the other hand Immortal Game will bring a new generation of players to the oldest casual game in the World.
Immortal Game will set up a dual token structure composed of a governance token called IGE and a utility token called GMT (Grand Master Token).
IGE is the backbone of Immortal Game, its main purpose consists in voting for project decisions.
All IGE holders will benefit from the success of Immortal Game thanks to revenue distribution associated with a staking pool.
IGE will also be used as a tool for very specific game mechanisms such as crafting which will be more detailed below.
Immortal Game players will be rewarded with IGE when they manage to reach top rankings in weekly competitions.
IGE supply is fixed at 1,000,000,000.
Immortal Game players earn GMT after each win, the quantity of GMT earned depends on the achievements the player did during the game. This is detailed below.
The Grand Master Token is the utility token crucial for players' evolution in the game. It will be used for many game mechanisms detailed below.
GMT supply is unlimited and emission rate will be controlled by the team and in a later stage through IGE voting power.
If Immortal Game uses the same rules as classic chess, what’s the difference between us and big platforms except token rewards like chess.com or lichess.org?
Let us introduce: Immortals. Immortals are NFTs representing chess pieces (Pawn, Knight, King...).
Each Immortal has specific abilities which consist of side quests players will try to fulfill during games. Fulfilled side quests will unlock rewards for the winner at the end of the game.
Players will form teams of 4 different Immortals and strategically place them on the board before the start of the game. The composition of the team and the placement on the board will be crucial, enabling synergies or nullifying any advantage.
Example of a team of Immortals
The rules are unchanged but the incentivization for a player to fulfill his quests will slightly change the way you have to conceive chess game tactics.
We have 3 initial categories of quests, Aggressive, Defensive and Movement.
“Capture the Queen first”
“Doing a Fork”
“Win without losing Bishop / Knight / Rook / Queen / X pawn”
“Checkmate in inferiority”
“Move piece 10 times”
“Promote pawn”
Fulfilling a quest during the game will grant additional rewards in GMT for the player winning the game.
Each Immortal has an element which gives it a particular artistic design and unlocks synergies when used together in the same team.
The 4 initial elements will be Marble, Ebony, Ivory and Crystal.

In the future more elements will come with partnerships and artistic collaborations.
Each Immortal has a specific purity: Rough, Polished, Piece of Art, Masterpiece.

The purer an Immortal is, the rarer it is and the higher its purity score stands. An Immortal team has a purity score which is the sum of the purity score of each Immortal.
Each purity level has a value attached to it:
These values will be used to participate in different leagues which is detailed below.
Another use case for purity is game rewards. Immortal purity gives a global reward to its team working as a multiplier. Pure Immortals boost rewards of a team given its purity:
Let’s take an example to bind together all these concepts.
You have built a team of 4 Immortals, let’s say 2 Polished and 2 Pieces of Art. You win the game and succeed to fulfill one quest from one of your Immortals. You will win the base reward (50 GMT) + the reward thanks to the fulfilled quest (10 GMT) and you. This reward of 60 is multiplied by 1.33 (1.05 x 1.05 x 1.1 x 1.1) which totals 80 GMT.

Players don’t want their Immortals to be worn away. After 10 games played by an Immortal, it starts to be worn and cannot be used anymore. Each day at midnight, Immortals are automatically repaired. The player can choose to repair it by using GMT if he prefers not to wait.
Immortals gain experience when players win GMT in a game. There are 100 levels of experience for an Immortal and for levelling up it requires a minimum of GMT won for each level. Any GMT won during a game in which the Immortal participates, counts for its experience even if it wasn’t won thanks to the specific Immortal.
In addition to the minimum GMT requirements, players will have to use some GMT to level up their Immortals But it’s a good investment!
In fact, when an Immortal levels up, it either increases the number of GMT rewarded for its side quest or it lowers the difficulty of the side quest.
Even better, at a specific level, the Immortal gains a second side quest which enables the player to earn even more rewards if he completes both side quests of the Immortal.
Immortal Game is composed of 4 initial leagues in which players can compete: Rookie, Candidate Master, International Master and Grand Master.
Each league has a minimum purity score required for a team to compete in it:
For example, you can compose a team of 2 Polished and 2 Pieces of Art (40 points) to compete in the International Master league but you can also play with a team of 2 Rough, 1 Polished and 1 Masterpiece (42 points).

The more exclusive a league is, the more rewards it unlocks for the players. A win grants the player a flat reward bonus of:
In each league, weekly competitions take place. The ranking of the competition is based on the total number of GMT earned by each player. At the end of the week, highly ranked players get rewards in the form of GMT, IGE and even Immortals!
